Quick Update
College is excellent, still have a 4.0 GPA. I’m currently taking 15 Credits plus volunteering at a local ambulance service on the weekends. This blog will be receiving some posts in the recent future as I am re-activating it for a college computer course. In fact, that’s the very reason for this post! It is supposed to be technology related, which is a very broad term. As such, and keeping with the theme for this blog, I’ll introduce to you the newest Canon entry level SLR:

The Rebel T2i
This little monster boasts 18 megapixels with a digic 4 processor! It’s okay, I’m drooling a little too. They also threw in a higher end metering system akin to that of the prosumer 7D, the iFCL metering System with 63-zone Dual-layer Metering Sensor. What this means is, assuming you have a proper lens, your metering abilities will be lightning fast and just as accurate. Low light performance will be much improved with this model. Perfect for a nice cemetery shot at dusk.
To that end, ISO 6400 is now within standard range, and 12,800 is max. WOW! It even has customizable auto-ISO ranges… Jeez, this sure makes my old 5D look pretty antiquated.
And seriously, this thing has full HD movie recording with a high quality external mic. Maybe I’m old school, but a DSLR that’s also a video camera? That’s just over the top for me. I wasn’t sure I could live without this until I saw that it had a $900 price tag. That’s quite a bit above the typical “Entry Level” consumer DSLR range of $400-$700 that we have been accustomed to in the last six or so years. That’s not too far off from Canon’s prosumer 7d camera that has nearly the same sensor and metering system.
It seems to me that Canon isn’t too interested in grabbing low price customers with an SLR anymore, as this new rebel seems more like a little brother to the 7D (both in ability and price) than an entry-level alternative.
Have you used one or both of these cameras? Post your own reviews below! Cemetery Photographs with these are highly desirable if you have any to share.
